a week in which we take baths and cut hairs...

I apologize for how immodest Patrick is in this here picture. I tried to edit it, but my computer skills just aren't that advanced. I figure you'd rather blush a little at Patrick's expense rather than me leave the picture out of the post all together. Anyways, the little guy still does not like taking baths, even under the careful watch of Grandma Mertens.

But he does like looking at himself.

Jack loves playing with a new set of play dishes that he and Patrick got from a friend.

Okay, and for the haircuts. I finally got a much needed haircut. In this picture I haven't done a thing with my hair in 2 days. I love how super easy it is- lower maintenance than throwing my longer hair back in a ponytail.

And look at this little boy! I find it so difficult to trim Jack's hair with a pair of scissors, not to mention quite dangerous with such a wiggly guy. So I took a razor to it and gave him a close crop. It's cuter than I could capture in this picture. I think it makes him look a lot older. I'm hoping it'll be easier to scrub spaghetti sauce out of than his longer hair. Even if it isn't, atleast it was a lot easier to cut this way.

a lazy morning

Not much has changed around here. Except Patrick is now a bathed boy. He didn't enjoy it too much.

Meet Patrick William Bakken

These pics are a little out of order. This picture is obviously of John Henrik, not Patrick William. But check out his lovely gash from diving off the bed and landing on the bedside table/filing cabinet.
Okay .... drumroll please.... here is Patrick! It was just wonderful being able to lay down in my own bed right after giving birth..... so relaxing.

He's already quite a pro with the thumb. Coordinated and brilliant - I think so! As you can tell, Patrick is no little woosy baby. At 9 lbs 6 oz and 20 3/4 inches, he is quite the little linebacker. He doesn't look a thing like Jack! Look at all that blond hair and no dimples that we can tell. But he does have amazing cheeks :-) We like him very much and plan on keeping him!

Happy New Year!

We had spaghetti the other night. I didn't even bother cleaning Jack up before plopping him in the bath.

Tonight Jack had leftover spaghetti noodles - without the marinara sauce and the post-dinner bath. He doesn't really care how he's served noodles - they're fun to eat no matter what.

Wearing Daddy's shoes ... backwards.

We had a very very lazy New Years Day. We were all very tired from partying too late New Years Eve. By the end of the day even Jack just kinda moped around.
