Before and After

When we bought our house we were overwhelmed by how much work we had to do to make it pleasing to our eyes. Or atleast make it so we didn't want to gouge then out.

Ready for this?

1 1/2 yrs later -

Yay we didn't have to gouge our eyes out! So far we've removed dead trees, removed mulch, rocks and ugly stuff from the yard, grown grass, planted new shrubs, installed new windows, painted the house and just today I painted our front door red. Whew. We still have a lot of work to do as far as landscaping goes..... but that may take a few more years.

Dirt Eater

Now that he's one I thought I should kick Isaiah out with the big boys while I made dinner. This worked quite nicely but I'm afraid the kid ruined his appetite.

Apparently the dirt at Manito Park in Coeur d'alene doesn't taste as good as Moscow dirt.

Welcome to our *new* blog. Sorry to our faithful followers - you're going to have to change your bookmark. This blog has been about more than our first born for 2 1/2 years now. So it's high time I've changed our URL to johnbakken.blogspot.com to bakkenfam.blogspot.com. So we're good now.

There are many reasons to love the Northwest. Reason #1001: It's miserably hot everywhere but here. Reason #1002: Gobs of cherries! So we went cherry picking. While most of America has to pay through the nose for the privilege of enjoying these sweet bites they are cheaper than air here.

And it's more fun that going to the park!
